The Gwin is located in Paloma, in Calaveras County, California — in the heart of the Mother Lode region of the Sierra Nevada foothills.
The Gwin was worked from the late 1850s until 1908, when the mine closed, and was for many years one of the most productive gold mines in Calaveras County. You can explore the full timeline here.
